Tablo's new 4-tuner version of their 4th generation DVR, previously a Best Buy exclusive, is now available for purchase on Amazon, offering the ability to record up to four programs at once and serving as a hub for over-the-air TV antenna feeds and free streaming channels. The DVR has 128GB of storage and supports an external hard drive with up to 8 TB of additional storage.
YouTube TV is rolling out a new library for its DVR and on-demand programming, with menus moved to the top of the TV and renamed options. The update, currently live on Apple TV, has received negative feedback from users on Reddit. Additionally, a recent change to the channel guide now brings users back to the last channel watched instead of the top, a feature that cannot be turned off. Despite these updates, YouTube TV continues to grow, surpassing 6.5 million subscribers and outpacing competitors like Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and Fubo.
Tablo's new DVR and antenna bundle is currently on sale for the first time on Amazon, offering a 15% discount. Priced at $109.95, down from $129.95, the bundle includes a DVR with new features and the ability to be used without a monthly fee. The Tablo DVR allows users to watch, pause, and record live broadcasts from an indoor TV antenna and a selection of free streaming TV channels, with 128GB of onboard recording storage. It is compatible with various devices and offers over 40 additional channels compared to a TV antenna alone, all without any subscriptions or hidden fees.
The ZapperBox M1, a NextGen TV ATSC 3.0 OTA TV tuner, now supports a built-in DVR feature when paired with external storage, making it one of the few DVR options for ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV. However, users will need to pay for the 14-day guide data. The ZapperBox allows access to all the new features of ATSC 3.0, including 4K HDR support and improved sound, when connected to an antenna and TV in an ATSC 3.0 market. Future updates will include manual recordings without a subscription, the ability to categorize recordings, and more.
