HDHomeRun, the ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV box, has partnered with FreeCast to offer DRM support, making it the first device of its kind to do so. The integration allows users to access over 700 free streaming channels, 500,000 on-demand movies and TV episodes, and ATSC 3.0 broadcast channels through the FreeCast app. Current owners of HDHomeRun FLEX 4K can update their devices to add the FreeCast software. The HDHomeRun Flex 4K NextGen TV Tuner offers features such as 4 tuners, full 1080p and 4K HDR resolution, and compatibility with various devices and platforms.
The ZapperBox M1, a NextGen TV ATSC 3.0 OTA TV tuner, now supports a built-in DVR feature when paired with external storage, making it one of the few DVR options for ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV. However, users will need to pay for the 14-day guide data. The ZapperBox allows access to all the new features of ATSC 3.0, including 4K HDR support and improved sound, when connected to an antenna and TV in an ATSC 3.0 market. Future updates will include manual recordings without a subscription, the ability to categorize recordings, and more.
