David Hunter, a British man who was convicted of killing his terminally ill wife in Cyprus, has been released after serving 19 months in custody. Hunter was cleared of premeditated murder and instead convicted of manslaughter. The court took into account that he acted out of love to save his wife, his age, and lack of criminal record. Hunter's daughter expressed relief and surprise at his release. Cyprus does not allow assisted dying, but the topic of euthanasia is expected to be discussed in parliament later this year.
