Kim Potter released from prison after serving 16 months for killing Daunte Wright.
Former Minnesota police officer Kim Potter, who fatally shot Daunte Wright in April 2021, was released from prison after serving 16 months of her two-year sentence for first- and second-degree manslaughter. Potter claimed she mistook her gun for her Taser during a traffic stop. Potter will serve the remainder of her sentence under supervised release in Wisconsin until Dec. 21. Wright's family and civil rights leaders have criticized Potter's release, calling for greater accountability in the criminal justice system.
