Kim Potter released from prison on supervised release after Daunte Wright shooting conviction.

Former Minnesota officer Kim Potter has been released from prison after serving 16 months of a two-year sentence in the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright, whom she shot after mistaking her gun for a Taser during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center. Potter will be on supervised release for the remaining third of her sentence, which expires in December. Wright's mother, Katie, said she is "dreading" Potter's release and is struggling to find peace. The city of Brooklyn Center, Minn., agreed to pay a $3.25 million settlement to the family of Daunte Wright in June 2022.
