Kim Potter released from prison after serving time for Daunte Wright's death.

Kim Potter, the former Minnesota police officer who fatally shot Daunte Wright during a traffic stop, was released from prison after serving 16 months of her two-year sentence for manslaughter. Potter claimed she mistook her handgun for a Taser during the shooting. Her early morning release was ordered due to "threatening comments directed at her and the potential for violent protests" outside the facility. Wright's family criticized Potter's sentence, but Potter's inability to serve as a police officer again has given Wright's mother "a sense of peace."
