"NASA's Perseverance Rover Investigates Mysterious Mars Rock"

NASA's Perseverance rover has investigated a strange rock on Mars known as "Bunsen Peak", finding it to be 75 percent carbonate grains held together with "almost pure" silica. The rock, which may have formed along the shores of an ancient lake, is of particular interest to scientists as it could potentially contain telltale signs of ancient microbial life. Perseverance will continue to collect samples in the Jezero Crater, with plans for the samples to eventually be returned to Earth by a mission in 2028.

NASA's Perseverance Rover Uncovers Evidence of Mighty Martian River.

New images from NASA’s Perseverance rover reveal evidence of a powerful river on Mars, possibly deeper and faster-moving than previously known. The river was part of a network of waterways that flowed into Jezero Crater, the area the rover has been exploring since landing more than two years ago. Understanding these watery environments could help scientists in their efforts to seek out signs of ancient microbial life that may have been preserved in Martian rock.

Possible Evidence of Martian River Found in Perseverance Rover Images.

New images taken by NASA’s Perseverance rover may show signs of what was once a deep and fast-moving river on Mars, part of a network of waterways that flowed into Jezero Crater. Understanding these watery environments could help scientists in their efforts to seek out signs of ancient microbial life that may have been preserved in Martian rock. The rover is exploring the top of a fan-shaped pile of sedimentary rock that stands 820 feet tall and features curving layers suggestive of flowing water.

"Perseverance Rover Captures Evidence of Martian River's Turbulent Past"

New images taken by NASA’s Perseverance rover suggest signs of a deep and fast-moving river on Mars, part of a network of waterways that flowed into Jezero Crater. The river was deeper and faster-moving than scientists have ever seen evidence for in the past. Understanding these watery environments could help scientists in their efforts to seek out signs of ancient microbial life that may have been preserved in Martian rock.
