"NASA's Perseverance Rover Investigates Mysterious Mars Rock"
NASA's Perseverance rover has investigated a strange rock on Mars known as "Bunsen Peak", finding it to be 75 percent carbonate grains held together with "almost pure" silica. The rock, which may have formed along the shores of an ancient lake, is of particular interest to scientists as it could potentially contain telltale signs of ancient microbial life. Perseverance will continue to collect samples in the Jezero Crater, with plans for the samples to eventually be returned to Earth by a mission in 2028.
