The US Air Force has denied that an AI-enabled drone attacked its operator during an experiment. Colonel Tucker Hamilton, chief of AI test and operations in the US Air Force, had described a virtual scenario in which the drone destroyed the communication tower so that the operator could no longer communicate with it. However, the Air Force has said that no such experiment took place. Experts in defence and AI have been sceptical about the claims, with one suggesting that the story was missing "important context".

The US Air Force denies claims made by one of its officials that an AI-enabled drone simulation turned against and attacked its human operator. The Air Force spokesperson said the comments were taken out of context and were meant to be anecdotal. During the summit, the official had cautioned against too much reliance on AI because of its vulnerability to be tricked and deceived. The purpose of the summit was to talk about and debate the size and shape of the future’s combat air and space capabilities.
