Ingenuity Helicopter Sets New Records on 49th Flight over Mars

NASA's Ingenuity helicopter set new records on its 49th flight on Mars, reaching a top speed of 14.5 mph and a maximum altitude of 52.5 feet. The previous records were 13.4 mph and 46 feet, respectively. Ingenuity has been flying on Mars for nearly two years and is serving as a scout for the Perseverance rover. It has covered 6.974 miles of Red Planet ground over the course of its 49 flights.
