NASA's Perseverance rover has finally parted ways with a small rock that had been stuck in one of its wheels for over a year. The rock had gained a cult following among fans of the rover, who compared it to Wilson, the volleyball from the movie Cast Away. Despite the loss of its pet rock, Perseverance still has a companion on Mars in the form of the Ingenuity helicopter, which recently logged its 50th flight on the planet.
