Reevaluating the Size of Our Sun: A Surprising Discovery

Astronomers have found evidence suggesting that the radius of the Sun is slightly smaller than previously thought. Using p-mode oscillations, which provide a more robust view of the Sun's interior, researchers have calculated that the solar photospheric radius is a few hundredths of a percent slimmer than the traditional model based on f-modes. While the difference may be small, it could have implications for our understanding of the Sun's structure and behavior. The findings are currently undergoing peer review.
