A middle school student in Chicago discovered a new cancer-fighting compound, orfamide N, from a bacterium isolated from goose poop during a science outreach program. This bacterium, Pseudomonas idahonensis, also showed antibiotic properties, inhibiting the growth of certain bacteria.
