The Spread of Deadly Fungal Infection in New York.

Candida auris, a deadly fungal infection resistant to antibiotics, is spreading at an alarming rate in health-care facilities in the United States, with a tripling in 2021 of the number of cases resistant to antifungal medicine. New York was one of several states with more than 300 clinical cases of C. auris reported in 2022. The fungus is deemed an urgent antimicrobial resistance threat, as it's resistant to multiple antifungal drugs, spreads easily in health-care facilities, and can cause severe infections with high death rates.
