Japan's Bird Flu Outbreak Causes Land Shortage for Chicken Burials

Japan is facing a shortage of suitable land to bury dead chickens due to the worst bird flu outbreak in the country, which has killed over 17 million birds since October 2022. The disposal of carcasses must be done properly to prevent the spread of the virus or contaminating water supplies. The outbreak has also led to a surge in egg prices and forced companies like McDonald’s and 7-Eleven to suspend the sale of egg-related items or increase their prices.
