Ron Hug elected as Omaha City Council member, replacing Vinny Palermo
The Omaha City Council has elected Ron Hug as the new council member for District 4, replacing Vinny Palermo, who is currently in jail. Hug, who expressed shock at being chosen, has deep roots in South Omaha and brings experience from his position on the MCC Board of Governors. He aims to rebuild public trust in the district and will be sworn in during the September 26 city council meeting. Palermo was removed from the council in August due to his involvement in a federal corruption case.
