Councilman Palermo Faces Legal Troubles and Calls for Removal

An active warrant has been issued for Omaha Council Vice President Vinny Palermo for violating probation after he was arrested alongside three other men, two of whom were retired Omaha Police officers. Palermo was already on probation after pleading guilty in 2019 to not filing three years of tax returns. The government alleges that Palermo violated all the terms of his probation and plans to argue why he should stay in jail until trial. U.S. District Judge Brian Buescher recused himself from further rulings on Palermo's previous case due to a potential conflict of interest.
