Vinny Palermo and Co-Defendants to Stay in Jail Until Federal Trial

Omaha City Council member Vinny Palermo, retired Omaha Police Captain Rich Gonzalez, and fundraiser Jack Olson will remain in federal custody until their fraud and corruption trial takes place. The three were denied pre-trial release in rulings made public Friday afternoon. They were arrested on April 21 after a grand jury indicted the men on 41 counts of fraud, conspiracy, and abusing public trust. The group is charged with planning and participating in a sweeping scheme to defraud the Latino Peace Officers' Association and the separate PACE charity sports program.
