New Horizons Probe Makes Three Far-Flung Discoveries.
NASA's New Horizons probe, which flew by Pluto in 2015, has made three new discoveries in the outer solar system. The probe's data has revealed that Pluto's flip was caused by the formation of Sputnik Planitia, a basin filled with nitrogen ice. The team also found methane ice deposits on Pluto's far side and discovered that Arrokoth, a snowman-like object, was formed by the fusion of 12 rocks that already existed in the outer reaches of the solar system. New Horizons will also take color images of Uranus and Neptune, which can only be done by a spacecraft far beyond the planets.
