Apple is reportedly redesigning its watchOS platform for the Apple Watch, with a focus on widgets over apps. Users will be able to scroll through a series of different widgets for activity tracking, weather, stock tickers, calendar appointments, and more. This is similar to Google's Wear OS, which already has widgets called "Tiles" that are customizable by the user. The main difference is that Apple's widgets are buried beneath a button click, while on Wear OS, they're available with a swipe in either direction. Apple's implementation could be good for Wear OS in the long run, as it may encourage more third-party support.
