Escaped Newark Bull Finds Online Stardom and Safe Sanctuary

Ricardo, a red Texas Longhorn, gained social media fame after escaping onto the tracks at Newark Penn Station. The bull's striking appearance and defiant stance made him an instant star. After being apprehended, Ricardo was taken to Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in New Jersey. The sanctuary is home to several other escaped farm animals, including the famous Canarsie calf and Freddie the bull. Some were not amused by Ricardo's escape, including a representative from a nearby slaughterhouse. The sanctuary opens for tours on May 15.

A Texas Longhorn steer named Ricardo disrupted train service between New Jersey and New York City when he wandered onto the tracks at Newark's Penn Station. After a chaotic scene, Ricardo was tranquilized and taken to the Skyland Animal Sanctuary and Rescue, where he will spend the rest of his days. The sanctuary's founder and president, Mike Stura, reported that Ricardo is recovering well and will remain in quarantine until cleared by a veterinarian to join other animals. It is believed that Ricardo escaped from a local slaughterhouse before his adventure on the train tracks.
