Before the release of Starfield, Bethesda had planned and partially built another space adventure game called The 10th Planet in the late '90s, which was a space dogfighting sim set in the distant future. The game was originally slated for launch in 1996 but was later canceled entirely, possibly due to the packed schedules of both Bethesda and co-developer Centropolis, which was also working on the 1998 film Godzilla. The 10th Planet lives on in some form via the space combat in Starfield, and there may be a few easter eggs hidden in the game.
