Bryce Young, the undersized quarterback from Alabama and the top pick of the Carolina Panthers, showed complete command during his first practice at the team's rookie camp. He arrived an hour before the scheduled practice time and set the tone for the day. Young demonstrated his footwork, decision-making, and processing skills, which made his size a nonfactor during his college career. The goal for Young this weekend is to focus on communication, snap counts, pre-snap decisions, getting in and out of the huddle, and grasping the concept of the offense. The ultimate goal is to have Young ready to be the starter when the Panthers open the season on Sept. 10 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Philadelphia Eagles' first-round pick Jalen Carter claims to have improved his conditioning level after showing up nine pounds heavier than his Combine weight at his pro day in March. However, it is hard to tell from the light practice at the Eagles' rookie camp. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said none of the rookies are in condition to play a game right now, but he is not concerned about Carter's conditioning. The Eagles invested a lot to land Carter with the No. 9 overall pick, and they'll hold him to a high standard.
