Scientists analyzed 14,000-year-old pups from Siberia and found they were genetically similar to modern wolves, not early dogs, and had no link to human activity or mammoth butchering, despite their black fur mutation. The study provides insights into their diet, environment, and breeding behaviors, confirming they belonged to an extinct wolf population unrelated to modern dogs.
