The Virtual Telescope Project has released a video showing the potentially hazardous asteroid 2008 OS7 in motion, created from 89 frames taken on January 31, 2024. The footage, which is sped up, will be followed by a live feed of the asteroid on February 2, starting at 18:00 UTC.
NASA's Planetary Defense Coordination Office has announced that a newly discovered asteroid, known as a Near-Earth Object, will pass within only 100,000 miles of Earth on Saturday. The asteroid, named 2023 DZ2, measures between 140 feet and 310 feet in diameter and will be closest to Earth at 2:51 p.m. CST on Saturday, March 25. NASA classifies it as a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid, but scientists will have a rare opportunity to observe it.
