A rare simultaneous capture shows a giant solar tornado and a massive plasma eruption on the sun, both caused by magnetic field disturbances, with the tornado reaching over 80,000 miles high and the prominence spanning about 200,000 miles, highlighting the sun's dynamic activity during its solar maximum phase.
Astrophotographer Eduardo Schaberger Poupeau captured a stunning image of a 200,000km-high wall of plasma erupting from the 5,600°C surface of the Sun, describing it as a rare and enormous prominence that soared above the sun's south pole. The image, taken on February 18, required overcoming challenges such as high temperatures, turbulence, and atmospheric instability. Using the "Lucky Imaging" technique, Poupeau stacked multiple frames to reduce digital noise and capture the remarkable spectacle, showcasing his lifelong fascination with the universe and its mysteries.
