Saturn will be at its closest and brightest on September 21 during opposition, offering a prime viewing opportunity, with the planet appearing fully illuminated and at its largest size in the night sky, and the event coinciding with a partial solar eclipse visible from parts of the Southern Hemisphere.
NASA has provided an update on the astronomical events to observe in December, including the Geminid meteor shower, which is expected to peak overnight.
