K-9 Fatally Shot While Biting Deputy in South Carolina

A K-9 with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina was shot and killed, and a deputy was injured during a non-training activity at the deputy's home. The deputy, an experienced K-9 handler, was unexpectedly bit by the 2 1/2-year-old male Belgian Malinois. The dog failed to release despite repeated verbal commands and multiple attempts by witnesses to pull the dog off. A family member of the deputy, who lives nearby, shot the dog while trying to help the deputy. The GCSO Office of Professional Standards was notified and is reviewing the incident.

Deadly Shootings in South Carolina and Georgia: Suspects Identified and Search Continues.

A 22-year-old man was shot and killed in Pickens County, South Carolina, and the search for the 17-year-old suspect, Wyatt Anthony Scott Pelfrey, is ongoing. Pelfrey is wanted on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The Pickens County Sheriff's Office warns that Pelfrey is armed and should not be approached if seen. Anyone with information about Pelfrey's whereabouts is asked to call the PCSO or Crime Stoppers.
