Samsung is reportedly working with Google to bring optimized apps such as Google Maps, Google Messages, and YouTube to the outer display of the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5. The device is expected to feature a 3.4-inch cover display, a significant improvement from its predecessor. Samsung's own apps are also expected to be ready for the cover display. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is set to be unveiled in July.

The Oppo Find N2 Flip's cover screen is limited to a few utilities, but now developers have found a way to run full Android apps on it through CoverScreen OS, which debuted on the Galaxy Z Flip series. The app is still in-progress and considered experimental, but it allows for any widget to be used on the Flip's outer display, making the device much more usable.
