Heatwave Claims Lives Amid India's Election Finale
Over 50 people have died in India due to a severe heatwave affecting states like Uttar Pradesh and Odisha, with temperatures reaching up to 50°C. The heat has also caused water and electricity shortages, and many hospitals have set up special units to treat heat-related ailments. The federal health ministry reported 56 confirmed heat stroke deaths from March to May, but state-wise figures suggest the actual number could be higher. The onset of the monsoon is expected to bring some relief.
