December Skywatching: Meteors, Asteroids, and Planets to Photograph
NASA has provided an update on the astronomical events to observe in December, including the Geminid meteor shower, which is expected to peak overnight. Photographers are advised to find a clear, dark sky and use long exposures to capture the meteors. Other photo opportunities include the crescent Moon rising alongside Venus and Spica, the Moon's close proximity to Saturn, and the alignment of Jupiter and the Moon. Additionally, amateur astronomers can observe the Vesta asteroid, which is at its brightest and closest position this month.
