Gas prices have surged in New Jersey and across the US after OPEC announced its plan to cut production by over a million barrels a day. The average price of a gallon of regular gas in New Jersey is now $3.36, up 11 cents from last week, while the national average is $3.58, up eight cents from last week. Although prices have stabilized for now, analysts warn that since the cost of oil accounts for more than half of what consumers pay for gasoline, drivers may not catch a break at the pump any time soon.
