Oklahoma Officials Resign After Secret Recordings Expose Scandals.
McCurtain County Commissioner Mark Jennings resigned after recordings surfaced of him and other county officials making racist remarks and discussing killing journalists and Black people. The recordings were captured by a reporter with the McCurtain Gazette after a county commissioner’s meeting back in early March. Both federal and state authorities are investigating. The comments also sparked protests in the county in eastern Oklahoma. The McCurtain County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that the recordings were altered, involved many victims and were illegal.
