"Oklahoma Officials Under Investigation for Alleged Threats Against Reporters and Racism"

The McCurtain County Sheriff's Office claims that recordings of County Commissioner Mark Jennings and Sheriff Kevin McLardy allegedly talking about hanging Black people and killing Gazette reporters have been altered. A state and federal investigation is underway, and several Oklahoma leaders, including Gov. Kevin Stitt and Idabel Mayor Craig Young, are calling for their resignations. The McCurtain County commissioner and sheriff have yet to resign. Death threats have also been made against McCurtain County officials and their families.
