Calls for Resignation of Oklahoma County Officials Caught in Violent, Racist Discussion

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has called for the immediate resignation of McCurtain County Sheriff Kevin Clardy, District 2 Commissioner Mark Jennings, Investigator Alicia Manning, and Jail Administrator Larry Hendrix after the publication of a story and audio recordings in which they allegedly discuss lynching Black people, compare a woman burned to death in a house fire to barbecue, and mention “two big, deep holes” for disposing of reporters. The Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office confirmed it is investigating the matter.
