Public Mood Turns Against ICE, Poll Finds
A NPR/PBS/Marist Poll of 1,462 US adults (Jan 27–30, 2026) finds growing opposition to ICE, with 65% saying its immigration-enforcement actions have gone too far and 60% saying ICE makes Americans less safe, and 60% disapproving of the agency’s performance—driven by Democrats and independents, while a majority of Republicans still approve. The results also show a bipartisan preference for the president to consult Congress before military action (72%), favorable views of NATO (56%), and mixed opinions on tariffs and Greenland ownership, with Trump’s approval at 39% and economy disapproval at 59%.
