HBO Max is expanding into 12 more countries in July, reaching 89 territories, with a focus on partnering with local pay-TV operators and telcos to navigate crowded markets. The company emphasizes balancing local content production with global hits like House of the Dragon and The Last of Us, and is considering rebranding back to HBO Max to leverage the HBO brand's strength.
WJR 760 AM, owned by Cumulus Media, is moving to an all-local daily lineup featuring local anchors starting June 20. As part of the change, WJR morning staple Paul W. Smith is moving to the noon-2 p.m. slot, where he will host "Focus." Smith, 70, will take over the noon time slot from the syndicated "Dan Bongino Show," which replaced Rush Limbaugh's show after the talk-radio host died in 2021. The move will end Smith's 27-year run hosting WJR's morning program, which he took over from Detroit radio legend J.P. McCarthy.
