Singapore's Lee Hsien Loong to Pass Leadership to Lawrence Wong Ahead of General Election
Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has announced that he will step down as the leader of the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) before the 2025 general elections. He plans to hand over the reins to Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong as early as November 2024. Lee praised Wong's leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and stated that there is no reason to delay the political transition. Wong's appointment would make him the fourth leader of Singapore and the second non-Lee family member to hold the position.
