NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day features a spooky image of the Lagoon Nebula, a vast cosmic formation that serves as a "star nursery." The image captures the center of the nebula, where two funnel-shaped clouds stretch half a light-year in length due to powerful stellar winds and intense starlight. The image spans 15 light-years and combines images captured in four different colors by the Hubble Space Telescope. The Herschel 36 star, which is 32 times more massive than the Sun and nearly nine times its diameter, lights the area.
