China dismisses Ladakh court ruling, asserts border dispute with India

China has dismissed the Indian Supreme Court's ruling on the legal status of Ladakh, a region at the center of a deadly border dispute between China and India, as "irrelevant" to its territorial claims. China stated that it has never recognized Ladakh as a union territory set up by India and that the western section of the China-India border has always belonged to China. The ruling came after the 28th round of diplomatic talks between China and India aimed at resolving their border dispute, which turned deadly in 2020. Tragic Ladakh Road Accident Claims Lives of 9 Soldiers

A junior commissioned officer (JCO) and eight soldiers were killed, while another soldier was critically injured, when their military vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Ladakh's Nyoma region. The vehicle was part of a convoy carrying soldiers from a transit camp to a forward location. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Congress leaders expressed their condolences for the tragic incident. A rescue operation was initiated, and the injured soldier is undergoing treatment.

India Bolsters Eastern Ladakh with Airlifts, Missiles, and Fighter Jets Amidst China Dispute
