ICC War Crimes Tribunal Targeted in Cyber Attack
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has confirmed that its computer system was hacked, leading to an ongoing response to the breach. The ICC, which handles highly sensitive information about war crimes, has not disclosed the severity of the hack, whether it has been fully resolved, or the identity of the perpetrators. The court is currently conducting 17 investigations into various situations, including Ukraine, Uganda, Venezuela, Afghanistan, and the Philippines. The breach raises concerns about the security of highly sensitive documents, including criminal evidence and the names of protected witnesses. The ICC is working with the Dutch government to analyze and mitigate the impact of the incident, while also taking steps to strengthen its cybersecurity.
