The new IKEA-affiliated food court Saluhall in San Francisco has come under fire from illustrator Tim Lahan, who claims that the food hall's logo is a blatant copy of his own illustration published in The New Yorker. The logo, featuring a disjointed eye, ear, mouth, and nose, bears a striking resemblance to Lahan's work. While Lahan has not formally registered a copyright for his illustration, legal experts suggest that it could still be considered a derivative work and potentially merit a trademark infringement case. Saluhall's operator, Ingka Centres, has stated that they are looking into the matter after it was brought to their attention.

Adobe has announced significant upgrades to its Firefly family of generative AI tools, including improvements to the engine that powers Photoshop's image generation and the introduction of generative AI to Adobe Illustrator designs and Adobe Express layouts. The upgraded AI model offers higher resolution, better detail, and the ability to steer generation with photography parameters. While the results are generally impressive, there are still some limitations and areas for improvement. Adobe customers have embraced AI rapidly, generating over 3 billion creations so far. Adobe is also using AI to suggest completions to text prompts in Photoshop and introducing AI-based lens blur effects in Lightroom.

Adobe has announced the release of three new generative AI models, including Firefly Image 2 for Photoshop, Firefly Vector for Illustrator, and Firefly Design for Adobe Express. Adobe has introduced the Firefly Vector Model, the world's first generative AI model focused on producing vector graphics, for its Illustrator tool. The model was trained on data from Adobe Stock and can create entire vector graphics from scratch. Users can now create scenes consisting of multiple objects through a text prompt and manipulate them individually. Additionally, new features include Mockup, which allows users to apply vector art to 3D scenes, and Retype, which converts static text in images to editable text. Illustrator is now available on the web as well.

Adobe Illustrator has launched a new feature called Vector Recoloring, which uses generative AI to adjust the color scheme of vector-based images. Users can upload their own Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) files to Illustrator’s Vector Recoloring tool to generate different colors and palette variations within seconds, either by typing out a text description or selecting from a list of sample prompts. The feature is part of Adobe Firefly, a suite of creative generative AI models, and is available to test as part of the Firefly beta.
