Galactic Energy's Ceres-1 Rocket Fails During Launch

A private Chinese company, Galactic Energy, experienced its second launch failure with the Ceres-1 rocket, which carried three satellites into low Earth orbit. Despite a successful streak of 11 missions after a previous failure, the recent setback highlights ongoing challenges in China's private space sector. The company plans to learn from this incident and continue developing more advanced rockets.

"China's Galactic Energy Challenges SpaceX with Historic Sea Launch"

Galactic Energy, a private Chinese company founded by former workers of the state-owned China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, has successfully carried out the first sea-based rocket launch in China. The launch of the CERES 1 rocket from a modified submersible ship in the Yellow Sea marks the company's ninth consecutive successful orbital launch and makes it the third Chinese rocket model, and the first produced by a private company, capable of launching from both land and sea. While Galactic Energy is making strides in China's commercial launch sector, it still has a long way to catch up to SpaceX, which recently broke its own record for the number of launches in a single year.

China Successfully Launches Ceres-1 Rocket from Sea

Chinese commercial space company Galactic Energy successfully conducted its first sea launch, marking its ninth consecutive successful launch. The Ceres-1 solid rocket lifted off from a mobile sea platform off the coast of Haiyang, carrying four satellites for Guodian Gaoke's Tianqi low-Earth orbit narrow-band Internet of Things constellation. The launch aimed to place the satellites in an 800-kilometer-altitude orbit. Galactic Energy plans to complete its 38-satellite constellation by 2024. The sea launch spaceport in Haiyang has also supported launches by other companies, and its expansion is expected to provide greater launch flexibility and reduce the risk of falling rocket debris.

Galactic Energy's CERES-1 Y6 achieves sixth consecutive successful satellite launch

Chinese startup Galactic Energy successfully launched its sixth consecutive Ceres-1 rocket, sending two satellites into orbit. The Qiankun-1 satellite is China's first very low Earth orbit (VLEO) satellite and carries test payloads for hyperspectral imagery, visible light cameras, and intelligent image processors. The Xingshidai-16 satellite belongs to ADA Space and aims to optimize remote sensing data using AI applications. Galactic Energy plans to increase the frequency of launches and aims to carry out 6-8 more Ceres-1 launches by the end of 2023. The company is also developing the Pallas-1 reusable launcher for future missions.

"Chinese Startup Plans Reusable Rocket Launch in 2022"

Chinese startup Galactic Energy is working on a reusable rocket called Pallas 1, with a debut launch targeted for 2024. The rocket will be powered by the company's own Cangqiong kerosene-liquid oxygen engines and will be capable of carrying 11,000 pounds of payload to low Earth orbit. Galactic Energy has already successfully developed and launched a light-lift solid-fueled rocket named Ceres 1. The company faces competition in China from other private startups developing reusable liquid-propellant rockets.
