China's Forex Reserves Plummet to $3.115 Trillion in September

China's foreign exchange reserves, the world's largest, dropped by $45 billion to $3.115 trillion in September, falling more than expected as the US dollar strengthened against other major currencies. The yuan depreciated by 0.5% against the dollar, while the dollar gained 0.2% against a basket of other major currencies. China's gold reserves increased slightly to 70.46 million fine troy ounces.

Pakistan's PM reaches out to IMF for bailout package revival.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif seeks a meeting with IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva at the Paris summit to revive the stalled $1.2-billion tranche to the cash-starved country. The IMF has rejected Pakistan's request to lower the requirement of arranging $6 billion in new loans, leaving the government with no alternative but to try and revive the deal. Currently, Pakistan's forex reserves stand at less than $4 billion, barely enough to cover less than a month's imports.

China's forex reserves reach new high in April.

China's foreign exchange reserves, the world's largest, rose to $3.205 trillion in April, beating analysts' expectations of $3.192 trillion, due to the dollar's fall against other major currencies. The country's gold reserves also increased to 66.76 million fine troy ounces, valued at $132.35 billion at the end of April.
