California's EV Credit Plan May Exclude Tesla Amid Federal Tax Credit Uncertainty
California Governor Gavin Newsom plans to reinstate the state's electric vehicle (EV) rebate program if the federal tax credit is eliminated by the Trump administration. However, the proposal may exclude Tesla due to a market-share cap, which aims to promote competition. Tesla, which holds a significant share of California's EV market, could be affected by this exclusion. Elon Musk criticized the potential exclusion, despite previously supporting the end of the federal tax credit. The rebate would be funded by the state's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.
