Top Kashmiri Rebel Leader's Daughter, 11, Appeals to Visit Jailed Father in India
The 11-year-old daughter of Kashmiri rebel leader Mohammed Yasin Malik, who is serving a life sentence in India, issued an emotional appeal to the Indian government to allow her to visit her ailing father. Razia Sultan expressed her longing to see her father and held Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for any harm caused to him. Malik was arrested in 2019 and sentenced to life in prison on charges of terrorism and sedition. The Indian National Investigation Agency has also sought the death penalty for Malik. Kashmir is a disputed territory claimed by both India and Pakistan, with rebels fighting for independence or merger with Pakistan.
