Study Links Weight Loss Drugs to Increased Food Waste
A study published in "Nutrients" reveals that one in four users of GLP-1 receptor agonists like Ozempic and Wegovy report increased food waste after starting the medication. The research, led by Ohio State University's Brian Roe, surveyed over 500 users and found that those on the medication longer tend to waste less food, suggesting adjustments in purchasing habits. The drugs, which reduce appetite and alter food preferences, have seen a rise in use, particularly among younger individuals, with significant implications for health and food sectors.
