NASA Warns of Potential Collision with Lost Asteroid in 2024
NASA has issued a warning about a "lost asteroid," named 2007 FT3, which has a 1 in 11.5 million chance of colliding with Earth on October 5, 2024. Although the impact would cause widespread regional devastation, it would not be enough to destroy the planet. The asteroid, with a diameter of .21 miles and weighing approximately 54 million tons, will also make another pass in 2030 with a 1 in 10 million chance of collision. NASA's Center for Near Earth Object Studies is currently tracking thousands of near-Earth asteroids and comets that could potentially impact the planet in the future.
