Chinese car brands are projected to account for 10% of new car sales in the UK by 2025, driven by increased sales across Europe, with manufacturers like MG, BYD, and Chery leading the growth. This surge is part of China's dominance in the EV industry, supported by government subsidies and supply chain control, raising concerns in the EU about job losses and market competition. US Imposes Tariffs on Chinese Solar Panel Companies for Evading Duties

The US Commerce Department has concluded a year-long investigation into Chinese solar panel companies and found that five of them have been evading US tariffs by routing their operations through Southeast Asian countries. The companies identified as skirting the tariffs are BYD Hong Kong, Canadian Solar, New East Solar, Trina, and Vina Solar. The investigation also determined that three other solar manufacturers, Hanwha, Jinko, and Boviet, were in compliance with US laws. However, the additional tariffs will not be imposed until June 2024, as President Joe Biden waived the tariffs on solar panels last summer for a two-year period. The investigation was launched after a complaint filed by US-based company Auxin Solar, which alleged that some companies in Southeast Asia were avoiding tariffs.
