Ian Watkins, the former lead singer of Lostprophets and a convicted sex offender, was killed in a prison stabbing at HMP Wakefield in England, with two other inmates arrested in connection to the murder. Watkins had served time for serious child sex crimes and was previously injured in the same prison.

A Long Island high school volleyball coach accused of raping a 15-year-old player died by suicide by stepping in front of a train hours after his first court appearance. Jason Maser, 22, had pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape, two counts of sex assault, and one count of child endangerment. The alleged assaults occurred in Albertson, where Maser coached the girl on two volleyball teams. Both Sacred Heart Academy and B&B Volleyball fired Maser after learning about the allegations. This is the second time in March that a tri-state area man has died by suicide after being accused of child sex crimes.

Jared Fogle, known as the Subway Guy, is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence for child sex crimes and child pornography. He will be eligible for potential release and "lifetime supervised release" by 2029. Fogle has expressed remorse for his actions and has made attempts to reduce his sentence. Following his release, he will have to register as a sex offender.

Aaron P. Bohmer, a former employee of District Five in Spartanburg, South Carolina, is facing multiple charges, including criminal sexual conduct, after a victim reported an ongoing sexual relationship that began when she was 10 years old. The crimes allegedly took place from January 2013 to August 2023. Bohmer turned himself in and is currently in custody at the Spartanburg County Detention Center. The school district confirmed Bohmer's employment in their technology department.

Jennifer Cecil, a volunteer at an undisclosed school in Cole County, Missouri, has been charged with first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of second-degree statutory rape, and having sexual contact with a student. The victim, a teenager, reported the incidents to the Cole County Sheriff's Office, stating that the relationship was initiated by Cecil and that they primarily communicated through Instagram using "vanish mode" to make messages disappear. A former LAPD police officer, Paul Razo, who was arrested on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a minor, has died while in custody. Razo had been charged with eight counts of committing lewd acts with a minor and allegedly sexually assaulted at least four boys, two of whom were his relatives. The cause of death will be determined by autopsy by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner. An investigation is ongoing.

Butner has a reputation for being a sought-after facility for clients facing federal sentences due to its federal medical center and low level of violence. Kelly is serving among a total of 771 inmates at Butner and plans to appeal his conviction.
