R. Kelly begins 30-year sentence at federal prison in North Carolina.
R. Kelly has been transferred from the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago to the Federal Correctional Institution Butner Medium I in Granville County, where he is currently an inmate. The medium security prison has 771 inmates, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons has not commented on the conditions of his confinement. Kelly has been convicted of numerous child sex crimes and sex trafficking.
